Hardback set is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

• Three-quarter leatherbound covers are mostly clean, with blind tooling and gilt text and decoration.  
• Boards show some aging and wear, with chips at shoulders, edgewear.  Corners are bowed and scuffed.  
• Spine has raised bands with tooling and gilt text, and is bright with bumped, frayed ends.  Please see photographs for details of condition.
• Binding is secure.  Small separation at back cover, Vol. 3.  See photograph.  
• Pastedowns and feps have some moderate foxing, staining, bookseller marks, owner's mark and evidence of bookplate no longer present.  
• Foldout map at back of Volume 3 is present.  See photo.
• Illustrations are clear, plates are age toned, with scattered foxing, marginal toning.  
• Interior is gently age-toned, exhibits marginal toning, scattered foxing, some smudges.
• Marginalia on Plate marked Edward VI; please see photo.

Third edition of the work by Rogers Ruding (1751-1820) originally published in 1817.  The subtitle specifies that this edition covers "from the earliest period of authentic history to the reign of Victoria."  New to the third edition:  "Corrected, enlarged, and continued to the reign of Her Present Majesty; to which is added, an entirely new Index of every coin engraved, and where referred to throughout the work."  Includes foldout map at back of third volume.
