A Very Good First Edition copy, in the publisher's DJ, of this World War II political memoir. Publisher's purple cloth shows edgewear, while the interior appears untouched.
William Russell (1915-2000) was a clerk at the American Embassy in Berlin when war began in Europe. Writing mostly from his personal observations, and about the ordinary German people he encountered in his daily life, Russell's memoir captures the period from late Summer 1939 to Spring 1940.
