Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD- condition.

• Pale blue covers with gilt illustration and text. 
• Boards show some exposure, wear, smudges, edgewear.  Corners are scuffed, with exposed board.  See photos.
• Spine has gilt text dimmed and is sunned, with frayed ends.  See photos.
• Binding is fragile, with some opening to stitches, loose pages at pg. 215. 
• Pastedowns and feps have some light foxing, toning, owner's marks.
• Frontispiece, facing page photo portraits, is present and has intact tissue guard.
• Illustrations, photo plates, are bright and clear, plates are attached at gutter. 
• Interior is gently age-toned, exhibits marginal toning, some smudges, stains, chipping to page edges, damage to pages 149-179.  See photos.  
• Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
• Text block edges have gilt along head, untrimmed fore and foot edges.

Scarce first edition copy of the autobiography of Hawaii's last monarch.  Publisher's pale blue cloth, richly decorated in gilt, with 21 plates from photographs including the double frontispiece.  Very Good- condition, with some damage entering the text block following page 149 and a couple loose sheets. 

This classic work by Her Majesty Queen Liliuokalani (1838-1917) is the only autobiography written by a Hawaiian monarch, and it provides a glimpse of life in Honolulu during her lifetime.  The Queen describes her childhood and shares her thoughts on Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma, Kamehameha V, the reign of Kalakaua, and her marriage to John O. Dominis in 1862.  With Appendices of Genealogical Tables of Hawaiian monarchs.
