Mamma's Picture Book for Her Dear Children

A collection of children's stories with hand-tinted full-page one-sided illustration plates. Title page (with frontispiece( for book is mis-bound into middle of book, as with other copies of a similar vintage. Altogether there are six stories, each 32 pp and lavishly illustrated. Book opens with "Stories of Hunters and Hunting." This copy is bound with blind-tooled blue boards with gilt decoration.7 x 8.5 inches.

Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD- condition.

• Blue covers and spine are hand-tooled with gilt.
• Binding is secure.
• Bright gilt on front and spine shows minimal wear.
• Covers have peripheral wear, with gently bumped corners, and what appears to be water staining on front and back.
• Spine ends are crushed, and gilt at ends is fading.
• Gilt on spine is elaborate and detailed.
• Neat owner's ID in pencil on ffep is dated 1870.
• Pastedowns exhibit aging and smudges, and previous seller's pencil notation.
• Text block edges are dusty.
• Interior is tanned with scattered foxing and smudges.
• Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
