Very scare 1918 publication, possibly first U.S. edition. Features seven beautiful color illustrations by Dmitry Mitrohin who also designed the cover. Contains 21 tales with titles such as The Cat Who Became Head-Forester, Who Lived in the Skull, The Three Men of Power - Evening, Midnight and Sunrise, The Christening in Village and many more. 334 pages. 6.5" by 9".

First U.S. Edition published by Frederick A. Stokes. New York, NY. 1918.

Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

• Illustrated cloth boards are in excellent condition showing few flaws such as fading to areas of illustrations, edgewear. soiling and scuffing to rear, and pushed corners with partially exposed boards.
• Spine features lettering and design detail, all maintained with wear limited primarily to the head and tail; the head and tail show small slits at the uppermost areas.
• Decorative paper to pastedowns and endpapers, all of which are clean and maintained to a high degree.
• Front endpaper bears an inscription in ink.
• The binding is cracked between page 192 and facing plate. Please see photos.
• As stated, the binding does exhibit a minor flaw though is secure overall.
• All aspects of the text block are in excellent condition including the interior where legible type is accompanied by illustrations that have been maintained to a high degree on clean leafs.
• No writing, highlighting, underlining or other intentional marks.
• Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
