Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

  • Decorated paper covers half-bound in calf are mostly clean.  Boards show a little edgewear.  Corners are scuffed, with exposed board.  See photos. 
  • Spine with raised bands has gilt text and is a little scuffed with firm ends.  See photos.  
  • Custom binding is strong.  
  • End papers/ pastedowns show little to no sign of age; some marks at front pastedown.  See photos.  
  • Interior exhibits minimal signs of age.  
  • Inside pages have light pencil underling, a few stray smudges.  See photos.

A very good copy in handsome custom binding with patterned paper covers and calf spine.  Text block is square, interior is bright. 

One of numerous volumes by the British born Gerald Heard (1889-1971), historian, science writer, broadcaster, and philosopher who emigrated to the United States in 1937.  An initiate of Vedanta, Heard aspired to an intentional evolution of consciousness.  His writings would influence the consciousness development movement of the 1960's onward.
