Softback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

  • Tan wraps are illustrated with Provençal script with titles in black and brown. 
  • Wraps show some bumping at head and foot, toning at edges, smudges.  Corners are bumped.  See photos.  
  • Spine is darkened with bumped, crushed ends, a 3/4" closed tear at head.  See photos.  
  • Binding is secure, stitches are visible at some openings. 
  • Interior is tanned throughout, with marginal toning, a few marks.  See photos.  
  • Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.

A nice copy of an uncommon collection of Blackburn's translations of troubadour poets including Peire Vidal, Sordello, and Bertran de Born.  First edition, in the original wraps.

American poet Paul Blackburn (1936-1971) played an important part in the poetry scene, particularly in New York, where he helped fledgling poets develop.  He was also an important translator of Provençal poetry, and Proensa was his first major translated work.

The first publication of Robert Creeley's Divers Press.  Printed by Mossén Alcover in June 1953.
