• Illustrations, black and white photographs, are clear.

A Very Good copy of this extremely RARE Vietnam memoir.  Inscribed and signed by the author.  With photos taken by the author and a roster of Marines.  Wraps illustrated with a photo of the author as a young Marine in Vietnam show some signs of handling and reading.

John R. Rhodes (1948-2023) graduated from Irvington (NJ) High School in 1966 and then enlisted in the Marines.  He served with the 3rd Recon Battalion in Vietnam from 1967-1968, and was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star.  His memoir, drawn from his personal diary, documents the story of one individual's tour of duty.  Rhodes's vivid description of what it was like to be part of the Marine Corps Elite is an engrossing portrait.
