Text by Saskia Monshouwer, translated by Trait d'Union, Eindhoven. Photography by Herman de Winter. Partly developed at the occasion of the exhibitions of: Avanti Galleries, New York; Galerie Katuin, Groningen; Galerie Witteveen, Amsterdam; 2C1MA, Canada.

Rik van Iersel is a self-taught contemporary Dutch artist. Deeply fascinated by materials, media, and life itself, he started off drawing comic strips and designing posters for pop concerts. His first large colorful expressionist paintings immediately led to a solo exhibition at Gallerie Willy Schoots, before he presented them in New York, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Berlin and Hamburg. He is mainly considered as expressionist, although in technique and subject he is traditional, favoring themes that have been recurring in art for centuries. Pages not numbered. Approx. 54 pages. 9.25 x 9.25 inches.

Lavishly illustrated with full-color reproductions of the artist's works as well as some B&W photographs of the artist in his workshop. Text in Dutch with full English translation.

Original signed work inside.
