A very good copy of this scarce title of historical fiction for young readers. A Newbery Award Honor Title in 1931, Alida Malkus's story about a Maya princess is grounded by historical research. The illustrations, bold black and white block prints, are by Lowell Houser, who spent several years as a staff artist to the Carnegie Institution at archeological sites in the Yucatan. The original dust jacket, preserved behind Mylar, shows heavy wear; the book's interior, apart from a few smudges on the opening pages, is very nice.
