Charles Bukowski (1920-1994) was a German-American poet, novelist, and short story writer, whose writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambience of his adopted home city of Los Angeles. Thus, the opening line of Clarence Hiram Sweetmeat's story: " One day when Clarence was a boy it snowed in Los Angeles. He had lived all his life in Los Angeles and he had never seen snow before,..."
