Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

• Pale gray paper covers with black ink illustration and titles and red cloth tape spine.   
• Boards show some smudges, chips, dings, scuffing, edgewear.  Corners are worn, frayed, with exposed board.  See photos.
• Spine is sunned, with softened ends.
• Binding is secure.  
• End papers/ pastedowns show little sign of age or wear.
• Interior exhibits minimal signs of age and wear.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.

A very good copy of one of four books printed in the Deseret alphabet, a phonetic alphabet developed under the direction of Brigham Young in the mid-19th century.  This book is one of two school primers printed; also printed were the full Book of Mormon and a first portion of it, intended as a third school reader.

Printed with fonts specially created for the purpose.  Illustrations in the text were taken from Willson's Readers, used in the Utah Territory.
