• Patterned end papers/ pastedowns are toned.  Front fep shows crease marks; a bookseller mark on one corner. 
• Illustrations are bright and clear.  Six large chromolithographed full page pull-down pop-up scenes in tiers and delicately die-cut.  Some professional restoratio to pop-up action.  See photographs.  
• Interior is age-toned.   
• Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.

Described as a novel picture book for children, The Land of Long Ago combines nursery rhymes and fairy tales in an inventive way, as two children are led by Humpty Dumpty over a brick wall into a magical fairyland.  Full page pop-up scenes illustrate the stories of Cinderella, Red Riding Hood and others, while pen and ink drawings in the text accompany the nursery rhymes incorporated into the tale of Hugh and Molly.
