- Navy blue cloth covers are mostly clean, with inked illustration and gilt title.
- Boards show some warping, edgewear. Corners are bumped and frayed. See photos.
- Spine has gilt text dimmed and is darkened with crushed and frayed ends.
- Binding is secure.
- Pastedowns and feps are toned, have some writing, ex libris plates on front pastedown.
- Frontispiece is present, a little foxed.
- Illustrations, black and white photographic plates, are bright and clear. Some light foxing on facing pages.
- Interior is gently age-toned, with some stray marks.
- Text block edges have deckle fore and foot edges, a few unopened edges at back of volume.
