Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition, with a VERY GOOD DJ under Mylar.

• Cloth covers are mostly clean, with gilt title.
• Boards Vol. 2 show some staining.  Corners are sharp.  See photos. 
• Spines have gilt text and are bright with firm ends.
• Bindings are tight. 
• End papers/ pastedowns show little to no sign of age or wear.
• Illustrations, black and white photo reproductions, are bright and clear.  
• Interior exhibits minimal signs of age and wear.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
• Text block edges are foxed.  See photos. 
• DJ looks nice behind Mylar and is backed with archival paper.
• Close examination of DJ reveals light edgewear including possible bumps, rubbing, and/or tiny closed tears, staining to back.

A Very Good set of these descriptive catalogues of transportation uniform buttons from the United States and Canada.  First edition, in their original dust jackets.  Slight staining to the edges of boards on Volume 2, and some light foxing to text block edges does not affect the interior.

This series of books, written with enthusiasts of transportation in mind, aims to picture and describe uniform buttons worn by the staffs of all forms of public transportation organizations throughout the Americas.  They offer brief historical sketches of the operations on which the wearers of the buttons worked.

Authored by Donald P. VanCourt (1926-2012) who dedicated decades to collecting, cataloguing, and writing about these artifacts of American transportation history.

First Edition.  Volume 1 issued in 1987; Volume 2 issued in 1991.
