Softback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

• Illustrated wraps in yellow, black and white. 
• Wraps show some age, discoloration especially at edges, edgewear, a crease at upper right side, a 1/4" x 1 1/2" chip at lower right corner.  Corners are softened.  See photos.  
• Spine is darkened, wraps are chipped and peeling, a piece missing at head and foot.  See photos.  
• Binding is fragile.  Back cover is loose at head. 
• In-text black and white illustrations are bright and clear, original prints have some age toning at margins.  See photos. 
• Interior is gently age-toned, exhibits some marginal toning, a chip to first page.  
• Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.

A complete, intact, overall Very Good copy of the important Paris art publication XX Siècle.  Issue No. 4, Christmas 1938, in the English Edition.  Some wear to the original wraps, darkened at the edges with a narrow chip and a crease to the front cover.  All ten original prints are present, with some marginal toning evident to the Zadkine and Hélion in particular.

Launched in 1938 by Gualtieri di San Lazzaro, the illustrated periodical XXe Siècle was distinguished by the inclusion of original prints by contemporary artists in every issue.  The original prints were limited to an edition of 2000.  Many issues of XXe Siècle No. 4 have been broken up in part or completely for their individual prints; this intact issue is a rarity.
